BELGRADE Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) deputy leader Zarko Obradovic has stated that the new government will be formed by next Thursday. He added that the Law on Government and Ministries will be on parliament’s agenda by Sunday. “Government will be formed by Thursday” “The new government will be chosen by Thursday. I am sure that it will do a better job than the previous one even though the circumstances are much more difficult than four years ago,” Obradovic told daily Vecernje novosti. He stressed that the difficult economic situation in the country and the Kosovo issue were the main challenges for the new government. “We will see what the situation is like in the budget and we will make a concrete plan of measures in order to secure a normal functioning of the state – regular payment of wages, pensions and social benefits. In the agreement, we clearly determined the order of moves when it comes to the Kosovo problem, that we certainly will not run away from,” Obradovic noted. Commenting on decision of Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDPS) leader Rasim Ljajic and Party of Democratic Action of Sandzak (SDA) leader Sulejman Ugljanin to join the government, he said he was sure that the government had gotten high-quality people. “Thanks to Ljajic and Ugljanin’s entry we got width, and not just in mathematical sense. We have proven that we can unite different stances in the interest of Serbia. It is possible that the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) will join us at a later point. They agree with the government’s program and goals and as they said, they ‘reserve the right to join the government later’,” said the SPS official. He added that the current support of 141 MPs could become even bigger. Obradovic underscored that the new government absolutely had legitimacy and added that he did not expect conflicts.
