BELGRADE Kosovska Mitrovica Mayor Krstimir Pantic has stated that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has a plan for Kosovo. He said, however, that the Progressives would not present the plan until consensus with all parties had been reached. “SNS has plan for Kosovo, still lacks consensus” Pantic told Radio Belgrade that Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic had had more than 50 bilateral meetings with numerous officials from around the world since he took the office. According to him, the issue of Kosovo was one of the main topics in all the talks. “The plan for Kosovo exists but Nikolic said he would not present it and that he would do everything to reach a general state consensus on Kosovo and Metohija,” he explained. The Kosovska Mitrovica mayor added that the basis for the plan was UN Security Council Resolution 1244 but that political parties needed to reach an agreement on a minimum that would be acceptable in the negotiations on Kosovo. He stressed that it was unacceptable for Serbia if Kosovo had a seat in the UN, if it was a member of OSCE or any other international organization in a way that would imply that it was an independent state. “Everything that would indirectly mean that Kosovo and Metohija is an independent state is not acceptable to us. We want to allow Kosovo Albanians the widest possible autonomy but we cannot accept that Kosovo is an independent state,” Pantic concluded. Krstimir Pantic (Tanjug, file) Beta
