Dailies Blic and Press have reported that the Serbian government has approved USD 2.9mn for Vuk Jeremic’s office in New York. Jeremic will use the office during his UN General Assembly presidency. “Govt. approves USD 2.9mn for Jeremic’s New York office“ The dailies had an access to a government document which shows that the sum only refers to 2012 while the one for next year will be determined with the 2013 budget. The document states that the funds are appropriated for “personal incomes and other expenses of the UNGA president and his expert team for the period from June 2012 until October 2013”. Daily Blic writes that the document was “awkwardly written” and that it could cause confusion. According to Blic, it is easy to conclude that USD 2.9mn was only approved for this year and that the total costs will be much higher. The daily’s source claims that the costs will amount to more than USD 7mn. Democratic Party (DS) official Dragan Djilas said on Wednesday that it was “disgraceful“ to approve so much money to Jeremic. His fellow DS official responded by saying that the accusations were false and that they represented Djilas’ struggle for power in the party. Vuk Jeremic (file) B92 Blic, Press
