The Serbian parliament was constituted on Thursday with the verification of the mandates of all 250 MPs chosen in the May 6 election. The inaugural session started shortly after 10:00 CET on Thursday. Serbian parliament constituted, MPs sworn in After the mandate confirmation, new MPs took the following oath: "I vow to perform my duty as a member of parliament in a dedicated, honest and conscientious manner and, in accordance with the Constitution, defend human and minority rights and civil liberties, and serve the Serbian people, truth and justice the best way I know how." The inaugural session was followed by a second session at which President Tomislav Nikolic took the oath of office, officially starting his five-year term. The parliament is constituted once two thirds of the representatives' mandates have been confirmed. Until new parliament leaders are elected, the session will be presided by the oldest MP, Zaharije Trnavcevic from the LDP-led coalition, with the help of the youngest representatives on the four lists which got the highest number of seats and the parliament secretary. The 250 parliament seats are distributed as follows: the coalition led by the SNS - 73, coalition led by the DS - 67, the coalition led by the SPS - 44, the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) - 21, the coalition led by the LDP - 19, United Regions of Serbia (URS) - 16, the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) - 5, the Sandzak Party of Democratic Action - 2, while "All Together", "None of the Above", and the list of the Albanian Coalition of the Presevo Valley each won one seat. After the mandate confirmation, new MPs took the following oath:

"I vow to perform my duty as a member of parliament in a dedicated, honest and conscientious manner and, in accordance with the Constitution, defend human and minority rights and civil liberties, and serve the Serbian people, truth and justice the best way I know how."
