The Socialists will not demand anything but we expect the PM to offer us those ministries he believes we will run well, Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic has said. The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) deputy leader and Serbian parliament speaker told B92 that the Socialists expected this from Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic because “he knows them well”. Speaker: We need government as soon as possible She added the ministries that the SPS had been running so far were highly responsible and that they had been under the public scrutiny. “As far as the government is concerned, we have decided to form it with the DS because we want reforms to continue, to immediately start solving issues that are important to the citizens. We have confirmed that we agree on the program,” Djukic-Dejanovic told B92. She stressed that the SPS had no dilemma that it was the DS that the party wanted to cooperate with first. “The government needs to be formed as soon as possible. Our experience with the United Regions of Serbia (URS) is good, we had no problems, we do not have a problem with (Liberal Democratic Party leader) Cedomir Jovanovic either, but he will have to explain some of his positions, such as the issue of Kosovo and the Republic of Srpska (RS),” she noted. The SPS official announced that two parliament sessions would be held on Thursday. The first will be a constituent session and newly elected President Tomislav Nikolic will be sworn in at the second. She added that she expected a fair and positive atmosphere in parliament in the next four years. “Parliament has been working hard so far, we have passed more than 1,000 bills but we have not done enough on their implementation. MPs will have a significant role there. We will not wait for someone to tell us what we are missing. And this is why I will use the opportunity to call for the forming of the government as soon as possible,” Djukic-Dejanovic concluded. Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic B92
