German Ambassador Wolfram Maas says the West is not calling for a government made up of the Democratic Party (DS) and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). “The decision is yours alone,” said Maas, adding it was in Germany's interest that the future government be pro-European. "West not calling for DS-SNS government" Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic said on Thursday that some Western countries wanted the DS and the SNS to form the future government. Maas stressed it was in Serbia's best interest that the government be capable of successfully tacking the difficult tasks ahead. “We respect Serbia's president-elect Tomslav Nikolic without any reservations. Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dačić said on Thursday that some Western countries wanted the DS and the SNS to form the future government.

Maas stressed it was in Serbia's best interest that the government be capable of successfully tacking the difficult tasks ahead.

“We respect Serbia's president-elect Tomslav Nikolić without any reservations. I wish the new head of state luck,” the ambassador told daily Press.
