A government of the Serb Progressives (SNS) and Democrats (DS) would not be an ideal solution for Serbia, says new SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic. He added that the future government could be formed without the progressives, but it would not be legitimate. "SNS-DS government would not be ideal" The Democratic Party led the creepiest campaign against the Serbian Progressive Party, he said. We are not people who would like to live in the past or to create enemies on the political scene, but a government of the SNS and the DS would not be the ideal solution for Serbia, Vucic told reporters after the meeting of the Main Board of the SNS at which Serbia's president-elect Tomislav Nikolic resigned as president of the party. Asked whether the future government could be formed without progressives, Vucic, who will head the SNS team in negotiations on forming a future government, said that it can be formed without the SNS, but it would be illegitimate and bad for the country. He said he was convinced after some unofficial discussions that the Progressives' opponents know this too, Vucic said. Vucic said he knew for certain that no one in Serbia - neither SNS nor any other party - has talked about forming a government because they are still considering the overall situation in the country. He said that after his inauguration, Nikolic will invite parties in the order depending on the number of their MPs to talks on forming a future government and that he would first talk with the SNS, then with the DS, then with the SPS. The SNS will request the mandate if its majority in the parliament is secured, and if it is not, it would not bother the president, Vucic said. Aleksandar Vucic (C) (Tanjug) Tanjug
