SPS official: New govt. won't be formed quickly

Vice-President of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Dusan Bajatovic says he believes a deal on forming Serbia's new government won't be reached quickly. Bajatovic, who heads the SPS in the province of Vojvodina, told the RTV broadcaster on Tuesday that he also "does not expect surprises". But when asked whether he was ruling out a possibility of forming a new government with Tomislav Nikolic's Progressives (SNS), Bajatovic today avoided giving a direct answer: "A lot depends on an agreement with the DS, while the SPS presidency will meet on Tuesday, followed by meetings of the party bodies. It's quite normal for us to consider this new situation and the fact which analysts were not expecting - and neither did we who supported Boris Tadic - the fact that Tomislav Nikolic is Serbia's new president". Bajatovic added that "whoever forms the new authorities will be taking over a huge responsibility".
