Serbia’s Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Friday that the attack on the police checkpoint near the southern town of Bujanovac was a shot at common life. He called for the reaction of the international community in Kosovo. Attack in south represents “shot at common life” “This is a blatant example of the violation of all agreements with the international community related to the administrative line (with Kosovo). I expect the international forces in Kosovo and Metohija to react and I have personally insisted on acting together to find traces of evidence that might lead to perpetrators,” Dacic stressed. The interior minister recalled how fiercely the international community had reacted when members of the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) were arrested because they crossed the administrative line, stressing that he expects the same reaction. Dacic said that the authorities were working hard on finding traces of evidence that could lead to the perpetrators, and noted that it was evident that they “did not just want to fire a shot or two“, but rather wanted to kill the police officers who only by sheer chance suffered no injuries. “Only pure luck saved the four policemen from the Bujanovac police station, because the police container was hit by 30 shots from various types of weapons that came from different directions,” the minister explained. “It is obvious that these people are not amateurs, but experienced and trained persons,“ he noted. “Moreover, the authorities have a well-grounded doubt that the attack was aimed at destabilizing the security situation in this part of Serbia,” Dacic added. This has been the third attack on the checkpoint in Dobrosin since 1999. Dacic stressed that EULEX had refused to come to the crime scene on Friday, explaining that they had no jurisdiction in the case. He added that the Serbian police (MUP) had requested to conduct a joint investigation so EULEX could investigate in Kosovo and MUP in central Serbia. Ivica Dacic (Beta, file) Beta Tanjug
