Local elections in two Kosovo municipalities

In addition to presidential and parliamentary elections, voters in Zvečan and Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo will also elect new local authorities on Sunday.

In addition to presidential and parliamentary elections, voters in Zvecan and Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo will also elect new local authorities on Sunday. These elections, however, are not supported by the authorities in Belgrade, and are also opposed by a part of the international community and the Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina. This is according to Zvecan Municipal Election Commission Chairwoman Mirjana Vasic, and her Zubin Potok counterpart Rada Kapetanovic. Kapetanovic added local elections in Zubin Potok will be held in 24 polling stations and that unlike in the case of presidential and parliamentary elections, the ballots will be counted on site, rather than transported and counted in central Serbia. Local elections in two Kosovo municipalities

Local elections in the two communities in northern Kosovo will not be held at the same polling stations where presidential and parliamentary votes will be held - "because that would jeopardize the electoral process in which the OSCE is involved".

This is according to Zvečan Municipal Election Commission Chairwoman Mirjana Vasić, and her Zubin Potok counterpart Rada Kapetanović.
