Transparency Serbia's Vladimir Goati says that higher turnout on May 6 would imply greater uncertainty when it comes to the results of the elections. The election result would be easier to predict if the turnout is up to 65 percent, but if it exceeds 70 percent, the result of the voting could be "almost unpredictable," Goati stated in an interview for the Novi Sad based daily Dnevnik. "Higher turnout makes elections more uncertain" He added that, as a rule, low turnout benefits those in power, and stated the example of the U.S. presidential elections. He believes that the results of parliamentary elections will "strongly influence the outcome of the presidential ones," adding that other factors such as charisma and persuasiveness of the two leaders will also be relevant in the second round. In the second round of presidential elections, the party which will, after the parliamentary elections, stand the highest chance of forming the government, will most likely influence the voters' decision, Goati stressed. The Serbian people will vote on Sunday to elect the new president and national, provincial and local parliaments. There will be 18 candidate lists for the parliamentary elections and 12 candidates for the president. Dnevnik Tanjug
