Serbian Progressive Party (SNS)-led coalition presidential candidate Tomislav Nikolic said on Wednesday evening that Serbia could join the EU only with Kosovo. “If the EU wants Serbia as its member state, it will not set the conditions that the country cannot meet,” he said. “Serbia can join EU only with Kosovo” “Only with Kosovo-Metohija can Serbia become part of the EU which wants a stable and better business environment in Serbia. The Constitution reads that Kosovo-Metohija is a constituent part of Serbia, and the president of Serbia must never forget that,” the SNS leader said at a convention in the southern Serbian city of Nis. He pledged to wage a war against poverty and crime, and added that all poor people who ended behind the bars because they were forced to steal will be granted a pardon and only criminals will be in prison. Nikolic said that the previous government had made the word “privatization” repulsive and that should have been a way to get a job and not to lose one. The SNS leader said that he would spare no effort to make sure that at least one member in a family is employed, adding that if elected, he would achieve that goal in the next four years. The coalition's candidate for prime minister Jorgovanka Tabakovic advocated for the return of young and educated people living abroad, since “Serbia has no future without people, jobs and children.” SNS deputy leader and candidate for Belgrade mayor Aleksandar Vucic warned his political opponents “not to dare to distort the people's will on May 6”. Members of a delegation from the Russian Federation said that they wanted to see a sovereign, strong and progressive Serbia, a partner of Russia. Tomislav Nikolic (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
