FM Vuk Jeremic said on Wednesday that he was convinced that Serbia will be elected to preside over the UN General Assembly for one year. Campaigning for his ruling Democratic Party (DS) in Banja Koviljaca, western Serbia, he linked the country's UNGA bid to the party, saying it "had the capacity to make that possible". In order to be elected, Serbia must continue along the path which does not jeopardize neither its dignity nor the state interests, which implies further engagement, opening, cooperation and understanding with the world, said Jeremic. Jeremić is an official of the DS and is running for a seat in parliament in the May 6 elections.
