The EU is Serbia's greatest trading partner and investor, Serbian government's EU Integration Office Director Milica Delevic told B92. Turning away from the European community would not help Serbia overcome the economic crisis, she added. “EU represents only way out of crisis” Delevic, who is also a member of the Democratic Party (DS), said that Serbia needed to continue with its EU accession, despite the eurozone debt crisis. “Serbia is on the road to membership, the country meets compatibility prerequisites required by the EU market which enable it to further strengthen the existing ties and make the best use of them,” she explained. Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) deputy leader Milica Vukomanovic said that as far as the EU was concerned, Serbia should not wait. She underlined that with its EUR 3.5bn, the EU was Serbia's greatest investor, donor, and trading partner. “The SPS appreciates the fact that the EU entry will benefit Serbia in economic, cultural terms, and for that reason, the EU accession is beyond question,” she noted. Delevic and Vukomanovic criticized the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) policy as far as the EU integration process is concerned. Delevic wondered why the DSS wanted a review of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) when it was the very party that negotiated its ratification. Vukomanovic qualified the DSS EU policy as that of “waiting”, stressing that Serbia had no time to waste. Milica Delevic B92 Tanjug
