Ruling Democratic Party (DS) leader and presidential candidate Boris Tadic has said he is convinced he will win the May 6 elections. He pointed out that the DS had led a consistent policy, focused on the country’s future. Tadic says he's "convinced of election victory" Tadic, who has already served as president for two terms, told the citizens in Veliko Gradiste that eastern Serbia had an enormous developmental and tourist potential and that the government would continue to invest in infrastructure on the Danube River and the Corridor 7. “Silver Lake and the Danube River have an enormous tourist and transport potential. When we put a finger in the Danube River we are connected with the entire world,” he stressed. The DS leader explained that his party was leading a policy aimed at keeping young people in Serbia and stressed that every state institution in the country needed to encourage citizens to have children. “The situation we have now – one pensioner to every employed person, is unsustainable. We need to change that and this is the most important item in our program,” Tadic pointed out. He said that citizens would make a decision on May 6, bearing in mind their future, safety and security and added that Serbia had tackled organized crime in the previous period, that it had built 165 kilometers of highway and that new investors had come to Serbia. “There is not a part of the country that will be deprived of construction of infrastructure in the next four years which will change Serbia’s image and create new possibilities for investments,” the DS leader said. He added that small- and medium-sized companies would not be neglected either and stressed that the citizens needed to take responsibility because the state could not solve all the problems.
