UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Kosovo's Prime Minister Hashim Thaci have discussed the latest events in Kosovo at the UN headquarters in New York. Thaci informed Ban about the latest tensions in Kosovska Mitrovica and the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Thaci's office said in a release. Thaci, UN chief discuss events in Kosovo During the meeting on Tuesday, the Kosovo PM thanked the UN and the secretary general personally on the UN's refusal to organize Serbian elections in Kosovo, says the release. He said his vision and the vision of his government was the integration of Kosovo and the whole region into the EU and NATO, adding that he expected Kosovo would be a UN member country in the not too distant future, according to the release. He also asked Ban to personally support the participation of Kosovo's athletes at the London Olympic Games this year. During his visit to the U.S., Thaci also met with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. A meeting with President Barack Obama was planned but did not take place.
