If presidential elections were held now, ruling Democratic Party candidate Boris Tadic would enjoy the support of 35.8 percent of voters, a new poll has shown. Opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) President Tomislav Nikolic would be backed by 35.7 percent, according to the latest Faktor Plus survey, conducted April 2-8. Poll: Main presidential rivals neck-and-neck Socialist Party (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic could count on 11.2 percent of votes, according to this. They are followed by LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic with 5.6 percent and Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica with four percent. The survey was conducted before the candidatures of Mufti Muamer Zukorlic and SRS President Vojislav Seselj's wife Jadranka Seselj were confirmed, and they were not included. When it comes to coalitions that will compete in parliamentary elections, that led by Nikolic's SNS continues to top public opinion polls, now with 33.4 percent support, followed by the one gathered around Tadic's Democrats (DS), which would receive 29.4 percent. The coalition formed by the SPS would backed by 11.6 percent of voters, with the LDP-led U-Turn, the Serb Radicals (SRS) and the DSS following with 6.3, 5.7 and 5.5. percent respectively. The Mladjan Dinkic-led United Regions of Serbia (URS) could hope for only 3.4 percent, according to this survey, and would not win any seats in the next parliament. If elections were held now, the turnout would have been 51 percent, the results showed, while 41 percent of those had already decided who to vote for. As many as 70 percent of the poll's respondents at the same time said they "did not trust" the very political parties they would vote for. The survey included 1,160 people from urban and rural areas of Serbia, with a plus/minus three percent margin of error.
