The Democratic Party (DS) will not form a government with those who want to join the EU at the price of Kosovo, says DS official Bozidar Djelic. “The combat against corruption, judicial reform and preservation of national interests in Kosovo are the greatest challenges which the future government would face in terms of the EU integration process,” he said. “Next govt. must focus on reforms, state interests” He told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) said that at the moment it was crucial for Serbia to join the EU in a high-quality manner. “The goal is to join the EU in a fast and high-quality manner, as well as to preserve the key national interests in Kosovo and Metohija,” the DS Presidency member explained. According to him, the DS has showed that it is competent to face the most dangerous drug cartels, as well as that it will never give up on its national goals. “The DS is capable of finding compromises, which enable not only the country's further movement on the EU pathway, but also survival of Serbs in Kosovo,” he added. Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Committee on Culture member Jadranka Joksimovic said that provided the SNS won the elections, its priorities would comprise combat against corruption, adoption of laws on public procurement, judicial reform aimed at the independence of the justice system, and departisanisation and depoliticization of justice and prosecution. “When it comes to Kosovo, the SNS would call for a national consensus and an agreement which could result in a referendum,” she noted. When asked whether the DS would form a government with the parties which insist on discontinuation of the EU integration process, Djelic responded that the DS would not establish government with the parties which favor the EU at any price, including Kosovo, whereas Joksimovic said that the SNS would continue with the EU integration process, as well as that it would be very difficult to see eye to eye with the parties which are utterly against the process.
