A decision on presidential elections will be made solely by the Serbian president while taking into account of the state interests, Nada Kolundzija has said. The ruling DS-led parliamentary group whip told B92 that there were currently two opinions about protection of Serbia’s interests. “Tadic will decide on presidential vote” “There are those who say that we should avoid spending the entire year in the election processes due to the state interests but we should keep in mind that Serbia would in that case be without parliament with full capacity, without the government with full capacity and with a president who is in the middle of the election campaign,” Kolundzija stressed. She added that President Boris Tadic would have numerous previously scheduled bilateral meetings that were “important for Serbia’s European pathway” and that he “cannot just cancel them in order to run the campaign”. “The elections certainly won’t be called after the legal deadline and in this case that is at least 30 days since the date when the elections should be held, and that’s May 6,” Kolundzija stressed and added that the decision would be made by the president. She said that holding of the elections in Kosovo was debated so much because “Serbia would be without full capacity in case Pristina made some unilateral moves and MPs from Kosovo were not elected.” The DS-led parliamentary group whip said that the DS and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) could not form a coalition after the elections because it was “an impossible coalition”. “When you look at a list of their candidates for MPs, the first 40 names disqualifies them for any serious coalition. The SNS simply does not have any coalition capacity,” she concluded. Nada Kolundzija B92
