The Original Serbian Renewal Movement, a faction of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO), will in the elections take part with Democratic Party (DS) coalition. This is according to the Original Serbian Renewal Movement founder and Religion and Diaspora Minister Srdjan Sreckovic. SPO faction to join Democrats’ coalition “We believe that in the coalition we can help make Serbia modern and pro-European country, which will develop economically and which has capacity to have the most powerful countries of the world as its political partners and allies and that we can because of that protect our state and national interests,” he told Tanjug. Sreckovic is convinced that the election results will allow continuation of modernization and reforms in all areas, as well as protection of Serbian culture, tradition and national identity in the EU integration process. He added that he also expects political situation to stabilize after the election which would allow the country to continue the policy that the majority of citizens supported. Sreckovic expects the economy and the country’s economic development to be the main topics of the election campaign. According to him, the fact that Serbia received the EU candidate status proves that it is possible to lead a responsible, state-building policy without crossing the “red lines” when it comes to the state and national interests and to, at the same time, increase the country’s credit rating and send a message that Serbia is a democratic country whose institutions are fully functional.
