Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolic is hoping for presidential election as well so he could defeat Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic. He added that if the SNS got most of the votes, he would first talk with Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica. Progressives "interested in cooperation with DSS" "We would open a sincere and open dialogue about the Serbia we want and whether we could change it in the years to come. I believe that, despite all political differences, we could reach agreement to topple the current government which is destroying Serbia," Nikolic told daily Vecernje novosti. Asked how he was planing to overcome the differences with DSS in respect of the EU, the SNS leader said that he was ready to discuss all the pros and cons, adding that SNS opted for the policy of neutrality. "We think that it would be best for the people in Serbia if the country became a full-fledged member of the EU, and if along with that it cooperated with Russia, China, Japan and other countries," he was quoted as saying. Nkolic underlined that it “is up to the Serbian citizens and not some foreigners” to decide who the SNS would form the government with. “As for the complex Kosovo issue, the only rational move we can make is to bring together all the politicians, intellectual elite and the Serb leaders in Kosovo and Metohija and to define the red lines of joint policy. No results can be achieved unless we take a unified stand on this vital national issue," he concluded. Vojislav Kostunica and Tomislav Nikolic (FoNet, file) Tanjug Vecernje novosti
