Opposition SNS party President Tomislav Nikolic has called on ruling DS party leader and Serbian President Boris Tadic to call presidential elections as well. Serbians will go to the polls to elect the next parliament and local authorities in municipalities on May 6. Opposition SNS party launches campaign "I am sending a personal message to Tadic. Pluck up the courage, call the presidential election, we're waiting for you," Nikolic, whose party polls as the country's most popular, told a rally in Belgrade on Wednesday that marked the start of their election campaign. "The SNS has five priorities, and if it gains power, it will form a government of 15 ministers and also advocate a reduction of parliament seats by half," Nikolic explained. The priorities are implementation of the public procurement law, fight against the privileged political class, start of the Danube-Morava-Vardar project, reduction of the huge government administration and "a policy of general care for babies" - Nikolic told the gathering, according to a Tanjug report. The SNS goals include Serbia with Kosovo as its part and cooperation with Russia, the EU, China, the U.S., "Arab and African countries that have recovered" and Latin America, he also stated. Nikolic's deputy Aleksandar Vucic also spoke at the rally to say that the SNS prioritized the economy, employment and investment environment. "To us, it is Serbia's future that has no alternative," Vucic said, adding that the SNS and their partners wished to see "smoke swirling out of factory chimneys" again and for "the people to go to work in the morning and earn their pay". If the presidential election is called, Vucic hopes the SNS candidate will be Tomislav Nikolic, who, as he put it, is going to win because he is going to care for all Serbian citizens. Vucic urged Serbians to turn out and vote in the elections - "because a great historic victory for Serbia can be won only if everyone votes". Nikolic addresses the rally (Tanjug) Tanjug
