A new round of the EU-sponsored Belgrade-Pristina dialogue has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 21, a spokesperson for the EU foreign policy chief has said. Maja Kocijancic told Tanjug news agency on Thursday in Brussels that the agenda of the talks would cover the issue of Kosovo's regional representation, "on which the two sides managed to achieve certain convergence of stands, after EU mediator Robert Cooper invested intensive efforts to this purpose". "Kosovo dialogue to resume on Feb. 21" The main obstacle in the process was embodied in the fact that up until recently, Pristina kept persistently refusing to include any mention of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in footnotes mentioning the name of Kosovo. The news that the dialogue will resume arrived after Cooper returned from his visit to Kosovo where he conducted talks with officials in Pristina. However, Belgrade negotiator Borislav Stefanovic said on Thursday afternoon in Belgrade that a date for the resumption of the talks had not yet been agreed, "although February 21 is being mentioned as a possibility". Beta news agency reported that Stefanovic also noted that the Serbian delegation was "ready for the talks at any moment". Albanian language media in Pristina recently reported that the authorities in Pristina "accepted a reference to Resolution 1244 " - on condition that a resolution adopted by the assembly in Pristina in early 2008, unilaterally proclaiming Kosovo as independent, also be mentioned.
