“Only Democrats can defeat SNS”

Only the Democratic Party (DS) can defeat the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), says League of Social-Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) deputy leader Bojan Kostres. He also believes that only the democrats can give a candidate for the future prime minister. “Only Democrats can defeat SNS” Kostres said that the best option for the LSV was to confer with the DS. “The reason is simple. Although, the League does not see eye to eye with the DS in respect of the level of autonomy Vojvodina should have, the two parties share the same view on the EU pathway, cooperation with the Hague Tribunal and other things accomplished during the rule of Mirko Cvetkovic's government,” he told daily Danas. He said that it would be irresponsible for the LSV to back anyone else and make it possible for the SNS to become the biggest party and the first to propose a candidate for the prime minister.
