The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) will try to form a joint state policy after elections, daily Vecernje novosti writes. The daily has learnt that SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic and DSS leader Vojislav Kostunica will try to form a new government together if they win enough votes. Daily: DSS, Progressives to hold post-election talks According to Vecernje novosti, the two parties felt the need to hold pre-election meetings after Kostunica had presented his position that the EU membership should no longer be Serbia’s priority. The Progressives, however, do not see Kostunica’s position as a major obstacle to their cooperation and further talks. Nikolic has stated that he and the DSS leader have agreed on everything, including the EU. “I don’t like to discuss it through media and I will stick to that. I can see that Kostunica claims that the EU, the way that it is now, will not exist anymore and I wonder whether I will find Serbia once we come to power. If these (the current government) continue to make us indebted at this rate, I’m afraid that once I enter the government someone from the IMF will meet me there and say ‘What are you doing here? We got Serbia because you couldn’t pay the mortgage’,” he pointed out. The DSS leader will present convincing facts to Nikolic that Serbia’s future is political neutrality and economic cooperation with the EU instead of the formal membership in the Union. The two parties will also discuss their opposing opinions regarding changes to the Constitution. While the DSS strongly supports it, the Progressives are in favor of its change.
