It is necessary for Serbia and the U.S., as traditional allies, to find a common approach to the Kosovo issue, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic says. He added that attitudes towards Serbia were important for regional peace and stability. U.S., Serbia “should find common stand on Kosovo” Dacic, who will attend the 2012 Prayer Breakfast in Washington, told Tanjug he would use the visit to the U.S. to hold a number of talks with the U.S. Department of State and Congress officials. “I already met with Congressman Turner and Rohrabacher and I am happy that we had a high level of understanding and agreement about the necessity to find a common denominator between the U.S. and Serbia, or Serbian interests in the Balkans, and that their views are fairly similar to the suggestions that I have given for resolving the crisis in Kosovo and Metohija,” the Serbian official pointed out. He stressed that it was important that the traditional allies, such as the U.S. and Serbia, found a common approach for a resolution of the Kosovo issue, adding that attitudes toward Serbia were important for regional peace and stability. Dacic said that he should meet with Congressman Dan Burton, who represented the Serbian Caucus in the U.S. Congress, and also have meetings with officials of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Maryland and Washington Police. “This will be a continuation of the successful cooperation that we have as the Serbian Interior Ministry with our partners in the U.S.,” said Dacic, who is also Serbia’s interior minister. “As a result of these good relations, a month ago our ministry sent a special police attache to the U.S. whose office is at the Embassy of Serbia in the U.S.,” he added. This way, the U.S. became the fourth country in which Serbia has police attaches, after Russia, Macedonia and Slovenia. Besides Dacic, Thursday's ceremony will be attended by Diaspora Minister Srdjan Sreckovic, former foreign minister and Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) leader Vuk Draskovic and United Regions of Serbia (URS) official Vlajko Senic.
