Serbia has a chance to get the EU candidate status in March if there is a will to make progress in the dialogue with Pristina, Swedish FM Carl Bildt has stated. When asked what the atmosphere among EU foreign ministers regarding Serbia was like, Bildt said: Serbia “must focus on dialogue” “We mostly discussed the Belgrade- Pristina dialogue. In this regard, European Union facilitator in the negotiations Robert Cooper will visit the region in the next several days”. When asked what Belgrade was expected to do, the Swedish minister noted that the EU expected both sides to show a constructive approach. “There is a necessity for both sides to show a constructive approach. Implementation of the agreements that have been reached so far is expected. This is very important. We then expect to see new agreements and to move forward,” he told daily Vecernje novosti. When asked to comment on Serbia’s chances to get the EU candidate status in March, Bildt said: “There is always a chance. The important thing now is to focus on the dialogue and for both sides to show an honest intention to find a compromise in all issues that were brought up in December”.
