Serbian businessman Milan Beko will not be the Serb Progressives Party (SNS) candidate for prime minister after the elections, says Jorgovanka Tabakovic. The member of the party's presidency, and of the Serbian parliament, told B92 on Tuesday that the SNS main board will discuss this issue when it meets on January 23, but ruled out the possibility that Beko would be selected. SNS denies businessman is candidate for PM "For us to win a victory for someone, and then have another person take that place, that will not be allowed... the stories about who and why formed the SNS, I don't deal with that," Tabakovic said. "The strongest party - the SNS, when it shows in the election that it is the strongest, should have its prime minister, because that's the definition of parliamentary democracy. That will be as the 126 (majority of MPs) vote for, even if the candidate is not good for the citizens," said she. As for party leader Tomislav Nikolic - "when the time comes, he will also run for president, because he has a majority support of Serbs and should be a candidate for president. "Why would Mr. Nikolic give up on his intention to officially defeat Mr. Tadic as well, if he had already done it in the first round (of presidential elections) in 2008 when he won 40 percent of the votes, while Tadic won 35 percent. And then he (Tadic) beat him by only 107,000 votes." Commenting on media reports that there was a plot to assassinate Tadic, Tabakovic said it was "an attempt of the helpless to take justice into their own hands", and added that she condemned it. "I do not wish to ever again see any person, from the authorities also, become a victim of the mindlessness of assassinations, but the justice system plays a big role here by not handing down proper verdicts to repeat offenders of these crimes," Tabakovic was quoted as saying .
