Serbian parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic has stated that Serbia will not recognize Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence. She stressed that this was implicitly requested by European officials, but added, however, that Serbia's EU pathway was unquestionable. However, when we say that they are requesting this, they deny it,” the speaker told Belgrade-based daily Blic. She recalled that two thirds of the UN members, including five EU members states, had not recognized Kosovo's independence, and stressed that Serbia would not do it either. Djukic-Dejanovic said that in the last few years Europe did not focus on Serbia in the manner the citizens expected it, and that therefore they were a bit disappointed but that nevertheless the country's EU course was unquestionable. “We have two goals - the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and further standardization for EU accession,” she explained. Speaking about the upcoming elections, the parliament speaker and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) deputy leader voiced Socialists' view that the next government would not be formed without them. Stressing that the SPS- Party of United Pensioners of Serbia - United Serbia coalition had justified its existence, she added that the Democratic Party (DS) was its most acceptable partner. She recalled that two thirds of the UN members, including five EU members states, had not recognized Kosovo's independence, and stressed that Serbia would not do it either.

Đukić-Dejanović said that in the last few years Europe did not focus on Serbia in the manner the citizens expected it, and that therefore they were a bit disappointed but that nevertheless the country's EU course was unquestionable.

“We have two goals - the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština and further standardization for EU accession,” she explained.

Speaking about the upcoming elections, the parliament speaker and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) deputy leader voiced Socialists' view that the next government would not be formed without them.
