If Serbia does not get the candidate status in February or March, it will be a very bad message from Europe, Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac said late Friday. “It would mean that we went beyond the framework of the Copenhagen Accord,” he told Radio Television Serbia of (RTS). “Having done that, all the other countries immediately received the candidacy. We, unfortunately, have a situation that is bound to the Kosovo and Metohija issue and that is a very big problem,” Šutanovac explained.

He stressed that “we should not give up on pursuing a solution to the issue,” adding that “it should be done wisely and patiently, focusing particularly on improving the economic situation of the Serb community in Kosovo and Metohija.”
