If elections were held today in Serbia, 43 percent of eligible voters would not know who to cast their ballots for, a new poll has shown. Belgrade-based daily Politika is reporting that Faktor Plus agency's survey was conducted Dec. 10-18, and included 1,200 respondents over the age of 18. Poll: 43% of Serbian voters undecided The newspaper clams that "it is normal that an increasing number of people are in two minds at a time when elections have not been called, and there is no election campaigning", but it quotes the agency's director Vladimir Pejic, who said the percentage of those undecided was "unusual": "This situation indicates that people do not trust the parties. A number of people are always unsure who to vote for ahead of the calling of an election, but this degree was not recorded for a while. The 43 percent undecided are those who have nobody to vote for." At the same time, according to the the poll as many as 40 percent of Serbians believe the country will not be made a candidate for EU membership "under any circumstances", while 12 percent have expressed optimism on this issue. "Most of them think that the candidature depends on fulfilling conditions which is most realistic, but quite a high percentage believes that we will not receive the status of candidate at all. People are in this way showing their lack of interest, and reducing the situation to either we get it or we don't get it," - said Pejic.
