Return of Serbian police to Kosovo “unrealistic”

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Monday it was unrealistic to expect the Serbian police to return to Kosovo although UN SC Resolution 1244 allowed it. He rejected such a possibility, adding that it was bad to offer false hope. "However, we have never used the option to return to Kosovo around 1,000 members of our police and other forces, which the resolution does allow, so I do not think it is possible now," Dacic reiterated. “It would be good for Serbia to advocate such a solution, but that part of the resolution has obviously never been accepted,” he noted. "If we insisted on it now, we would need consent from the UN Security Council, as well as agreement with the international forces already in Kosovo, which is, I think, unrealistic to expect," the interior minister concluded.
