Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic stated Friday that the MPs would begin discussing the 2012 budget on December 26. She expressed expectation that the proposed act would be adopted three days later. “Parliament to discuss budget on December 26” She told the journalists that she expected this important financial act to be supported by all parties of the ruling majority. "I do not think the ruling majority will have any dilemma in voting for the budget. There will surely be requests for certain modifications, and I expect the voting, which should take place on December 29, to be a parameter that the ruling majority is still functioning," the speaker explained. Commenting on whether there would be a need for the ruling majority to request the opposition's support for the adoption of the budget, Djukic-Dejanovic said that "surprises are always possible," noting, however, that the ruling majority was solid and that she was not afraid that the budget might not be adopted. The speaker underlined that, taking into account the budget calendar, the parliament was "ages late" with adopting the budget, noting, however, that this year the delay was justified due to the consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and adoption of other laws.
