Ministry "has no footage from checkpoints"

The Serbian Defense Ministry said KFOR had not provided it with any footage of the conflict between the citizens and international forces in northern Kosovo. The clashes took place at barricades in Jagnjenica and Jarinje. Ministry "has no footage from checkpoints" The ministry's statement was on Wednesday forwarded to the meida in the form of a letter. The existence of the footage was recently confirmed by the KFOR commander Erhard Drews. The ministry in this way reacted to Tuesday's release of the Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS), which casts doubt on the statement made by Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac that the Ministry of Defense "does not have the pictures of the events". The letter says that KFOR unit for cooperation with the Serbian Army does not have access to the said recordings, and is therefore not in a position to provide it to any state organs of Serbia. The ministry hopes that this document will be proof enough that it is not necessary to bring into doubt the intention to shed light on the incidents in Jarinje and Jagnjenica, the letter says. The UNS stated in its Tuesday's release that, because of contradictory information on events in the north of Kosovo, it was of utmost important for the public to be informed about the footage recorded by KFOR, so that it could undergo independent analysis. "For that reason it is necessary that the Serbian authorities, if they have not done so already, urgently request the footage mentioned by (KFOR) commander Drews, and make it accessible to the media and the public," the UNS statement concluded. The ministry's statement was on Wednesday forwarded to the meida in the form of a letter.The existence of the footage was recently confirmed by the KFOR commander Erhard Drews.
