"No defeat, no change in policy"

One of the vice-presidents of the ruling Democrats (DS) has stated that Serbia "did all that was necessary in terms of reform processes on the EU pathway". But Dusan Petrovic, who also serves as minister of trade, agriculture, forestry and water management, added that Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council was "the red line that we cannot cross". "No defeat, no change in policy" "Resolution 1244 is the red line which Serbia's state policy will not and cannot cross," Petrovic stressed, assessing the decision of the European Council to postpone the granting of EU candidacy to Serbia as a political issue. Petrovic stated for state broadcaster RTS that there were serious indications that the issue could be reopened "in the second half of February, that is, March". "We completed major work on systemic issues covering public administration, judiciary and economic reforms, and we will pursue this policy for as long as this government exists," Petrovic stressed. When asked if early elections will be called, Petrovic responded that the current government did not abandon any of the important aspects of the state policy, adding that "what has not been done up to today will be done eventually". Petrovic also believes that at this point "it is in no one's interest" to call elections before their regular schedule in the spring". The DS official and cabinet minister also asserted that the state policy will not change: "I see no defeat, there is no important point of the state policy that this government and system abandoned.
