The opposition SNS party is ready to "share responsibility" with the ruling coalition when it comes to decisions on Kosovo, says deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic. "We are ready to share the responsibility in a very serious way and there will be no easy solutions there," he told state broadcaster RTS in Belgrade on Wednesday, when asked to comment on the accusations coming from the Democrats (DS) that the SNS "did not wish to state its position on that issue". SNS wants to "share responsibility for Kosovo" Vucic also said he "could not go into the details" of his party's policy on the problem, and that this was the case because he was not sufficiently acquainted with the negotiations between the Serb and Albanian sides, held in Brussels. Vucic criticized DS deputy leader and Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas for saying that "spending for Serbs in Kosovo should be cut". "Don't let us get money by taking it away from the mouths of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," said he, and added that Serbia could stand to save from EUR 500mn to one billion if it implemented a draft law on public procurement, submitted by the SNS. According to him, the law would suppress corruption and save money for the state. Vucic criticized the authorities for Serbia's regression in fighting corruption, according to Transparency International: "Serbia is once again lower on the corruption index. The degree of corruption is higher, and those in power do not notice it." Vucic also stated that his party hoped the EU would make the country a candidate for membership in the organization.
