All EU member states will carefully follow the outcome of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Polish Foreign Ministry State Secretary Mikolaj Dowgielewicz has said. He added that the Polish presidency over the EU would work on reaching a reasonable consensus with regard to Serbia's candidacy. Poland for consensus on Serbia's candidacy Dowgielewicz told daily Blic that the recommendations of the European Commission represented a solid ground for discussion between 27 EU member states in regard to the conclusions on enlargement which refer to Serbia, as well as for a possible decision of the EU Council. He stressed that the EU enlargement was one of the priorities of the Polish presidency over the Union, so the issue of Serbia's candidacy is very important for Poland. “We believe that the dialogue is the best way to find solutions to bilateral relations. We assess positively the first rounds of EU-mediated process (between Belgrade and Pristina), and hope that the tendency will be continued,” the Polish official was quoted as saying. He stressed that the EU was sparing no effort to resolve the debt crisis and voiced belief that would not affect the Western Balkan countries' EU integration. When asked whether Serbia could become an EU candidate country without recognizing Kosovo, Dowgielewicz said that Poland “recognizes the Republic of Kosovo and supports its territorial integrity” and voiced opinion that the dialogue was the best way to resolve bilateral disputes.
