Belgrade-Pristina negotiating teams will meet for the second time in a very short period of time, most likely on Wednesday, daily Vecernje novosti writes. The new round of talks should be held next Wednesday, the daily has learned from sources in the European Council. Daily: Belgrade-Pristina talks to continue on Wednesday However, a date has not been officially set yet. “We will continue where we left off,” the source was quoted as saying. “Regional cooperation, Kosovo’s participation in regional forums and of course implementation of the agreements that have been reached so far will be on the agenda. We want to make sure that things that have been agreed will be implemented in practice,” the source added. According to Vecernje novosti, the two teams will also discuss a burning issue of “integrated control of the borders” which is at the moment the biggest stumbling block in an attempt to reach additional agreements. Well-informed sources point out that a formula that could satisfy both sides is being looked for. The European Council stressed that progress had been made during the last round of talks but not to the extent they had expected, the daily writes. The source added that progress is necessary so Serbia would be able to continue the EU integration process and preserve hope that it could get the candidate status on December 9. According to the daily, the EU member states, including Germany, are ready to accept the decision but only if the next round of the Belgrade-Pristina talks gave satisfying results. This is one of the reasons why the two teams will meet again after such a short period of time. The second reason is an intention to make up for the lost time, bearing in mind that negotiations had been suspended for two months, Vecernje novosti stressed.
