Liberal Democratic Party leader Cedomir Jovanovic stated on Tuesday that everyday incidents of the government representatives were a consequence of nervousness. He added that the reason for this was “weakening of the coalition’s magnetism”. LDP leader: Citizens are hostages of society’s powerlessness “Everyday political incidents are consequences of nervousness, because coalition’s magnetism is weakening because they see that all this is leading to a total breakdown,” the LDP leader told B92. He criticized Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic’s political approach, adding that it was discouraging and that it cost Serbia a lot. Jovanovic stressed that he was more concerned about the poor situation in the country now than on October 5, 2000 when Slobodan Milosevic’s policy was defeated. “Today we live in Serbia which is unable to become modern, we have almost destroyed ourselves and almost everything around us and we blame Milosevic for everything,” he stressed. The LDP leader said that Serbian President Boris Tadic was the most responsible for the poor situation in the country and the double standard policy. He explained that the state could not “influence the extremists in northern Kosovo” and that it did not have the courage to say so. Jovanovic pointed out that “extremists” had appeared at the barricades near the Jarinje checkpoint on September 27 before KFOR started shooting at the citizens, adding that public should have been informed about it. “We insist that the Belgrade-Pristina relations are regulated based on the Ahtisaari plan,” he stressed. Commenting on the cancelation of the Pride Parade, the LDP leader said that a lot of wrong things had been said. “Serbia today is a hostage of society’s powerlessness, hypocrisy and political deceitfulness. It was not police officers who were supposed to protect human rights, but country’s representatives, the president, the prime minister, the patriarch, the rector,” Jovanovic concluded.
