The EU condemns violence against the international community in northern Kosovo and urges restraint and responsible behavior, it was announced on Tuesday. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton’s Spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic told Tanjug that the EU offered full support to EULEX and KFOR in their efforts to calm the situation down. EU condemns violence against intl. forces in Kosovo “The EU supports the removal of barricades,” she said, noting that the situation on the ground was still evolving, and that information was being collected and checked. Diplomatic sources in Brussels have sharply denied accusations by the Belgrade negotiating team chief Borislav Stefanovic that KFOR and EULEX overstepped their mandate by using force to remove the barricades. “The EU is very united in its support to EULEX and KFOR, which comply with Resolution 1244,” a senior EU official told Tanjug, adding that Stefanovic's attitude was not going to be met with much understanding in Brussels.
