The Serbian Socialist Party (SPS) wants SPS leader Ivica Dacic to be the next prime minister, SPS official and Education Minister Zarko Obradovic has said. “We believe that (Serbian President Boris) Tadic and the Democratic Party (DS) will accept the idea of Dacic being a prime minister,” the SNS official told daily Press. He also expressed expectation that his party would continue its cooperation with the DS after the elections, pointing out that the Democrats were SPS’ “strategic partner”. Commenting on Tadic’s recent statement that there was a possibility that Serbia would not get the EU candidate status by the end of the year, the education minister said that “it is not the end of the world if that happens”. “It is important that the citizens understand that we are doing everything to become an EU member but that we are also taking care of our people,” he concluded.
