Belgrade team head Borislav Stefanovic has said that there is some partisanship and attempts to take advantage of the situation among Serbs in north Kosovo. He told Jagodina-based TV station Palma Plus that unity and determination to stay in their homes was still stronger. We need unity in north Kosovo, team chief says “What’s certain is that partisanship is violating the citizens’ unity. The citizens are united with their state that now stands behind them,” Stefanovic pointed out. He added that “it will be carefully monitored if someone is violating the agreement and barricades are an option to protect one’s interests peacefully”. The team chief repeated that status and administrative crossings would not be discussed during the next round of the Belgrade-Pristina talks on September 5 in Brussels, adding however that “customs seal will be discussed”. Commenting on International Civilian Office Head Pieter Feith’s statement that “the government in Pristina has the right to take control over the entire territory of Kosovo”, Stefanovic said that he “does not expect anything else from Feith”. “Feith is a man with a very vague mandate and very vague position, considering that he represents an NGO called the International Civilian Office, which is in charge of helping Kosovo’s independence,” he explained. “Feith can also be seen as a provider of certain services to Hashim Thaci’s government and those are people who thought on July 25 that they had the right and that they should take over the checkpoints, putting not only Serbian citizens in danger, but also police and ROSU members, one of whom unfortunately was killed,” the Belgrade team head stressed. He added that “Pristina knows very well that the dialogue with Belgrade is necessary to solve misunderstandings and dilemmas”. Borislav Stefanovic (Tanjug, file)
