Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandr Konuzin said Saturday that "Pristina's dangerous ambitions cannot be tolerated". Speaking about the actions of the Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina in the Serb north of the province, the envoy stressed that the international community in Kosovo "must react strongly in line with their mandates". Russian ambassador on Kosovo escalation "I am following the development of the situation in Kosovo, particularly in the north of the province, with deep concern. Provocative actions of the Pristina authorities, which tried to change the situation on the ground through unilateral use of force, deserve condemnation. A durable solution to the Kosovo issue is only possible on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 1244," Konuzin said. Pointing out that Pristina's dangerous ambitions and legal nihilism cannot be tolerated, he said that the situation should be normalized as quickly as possible so that the two sides can solve open issues through dialogue. "In order to prevent further destabilization of the situation in northern Kosovo, the international community needs to act strongly in line with their mandates in a status neutral form, respecting international law," Konuzin told Belgrade daily Danas. On Monday, the Pristina government sent police units to take control of the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings, sparking the current crisis that spiraled into violence on several occasions during the past week.
