The Serbian parliament adopted on Wednesday the report on the Serbian ombudsman's work in 2010. MPs called on government bodies to respect ombudsman's recommendations with a view to achieving and protecting human and minority rights and freedoms, as well as acting in keeping with the principles of good administration. Parliament to monitor ombudsman's recommendations By the adoption of the report and amendments to the Law on Local Elections, the Serbian parliament completed its seventh extraordinary sitting this year. The Serbian parliament took on the obligation to monitor whether executive bodies and holders of public authorizations are respecting the recommendations which the ombudsman included in the report and whether they are contributing to protection of human and minority rights in keeping with their jurisdictions. Presenting the report on his work before the parliament, Serbian Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic underscored that certain progress has been made in the area of human and minority rights in Serbia compared to the previous years, but he also noted that nobody in the country, including himself, has any reason to be fully satisfied. Jankovic underscored that economic and social rights and workers' rights constitute the biggest pressure for Serbian citizens.

By the adoption of the report and amendments to the Law on Local Elections, the Serbian parliament completed its seventh extraordinary sitting this year.

The Serbian parliament took on the obligation to monitor whether executive bodies and holders of public authorizations are respecting the recommendations which the ombudsman included in the report and whether they are contributing to protection of human and minority rights in keeping with their jurisdictions.

Presenting the report on his work before the parliament, Serbian Ombudsman Saša Janković underscored that certain progress has been made in the area of human and minority rights in Serbia compared to the previous years, but he also noted that nobody in the country, including himself, has any reason to be fully satisfied.

Janković underscored that economic and social rights and workers' rights constitute the biggest pressure for Serbian citizens.
