FM Vuk Jeremic was in Colombia to seek support in the ongoing UN SC consultations on Serbia's request for a probe into the Kosovo organ trafficking case. Serbia wants an independent investigation into allegations that ethnic Albanian KLA kidnapped Serb and other civilians in order to sell their body parts to be conducted under a UN mandate. They discussed strengthening of bilateral relations in the fight against organized crime, cultural and economic cooperation, the release reads. During the talks, the ministers also discussed prospects for cooperation in the domain of energy, mining in particular, in which Colombia is one of the leading countries of Latin America. Jeremic said that a comprehensive cooperation with the countries of Latin America in combating organized crime, particularly drug trafficking, is of immense importance for the success of Serbia's national strategy in that domain. The two countries will sign a number of agreements in early September, during Foreign Minister Holguin's stay in Belgrade, where she is to attend the 50th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement's first summit. The Serbian and Colombian officials will sign agreements covering the domains of the interior, defense and culture, as well as agreements on abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports. Agreements on protection of investments and abolition of double taxation are planned for October, which will create conditions for drafting a free trade agreement, a Serbian MFA release reads.
