OSCE PA session continues in Belgrade

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly continues its work in Belgrade on Thursday with three committee sessions. Resolutions adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Standing Committee will also be discussed. OSCE PA session continues in Belgrade The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Standing Committee has adopted on the first day 25 draft resolutions that will be discussed by three committees, including the resolution on “Combat against illegal human organ trafficking” which was submitted by Serbia. Political Affairs and Security Committee, Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment Committee and Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions Committee will discuss the proposals in order to include them in a declaration that should help determine an OSCE policy and help establish OSCE members’ legislation. This year’s OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session, which is being held in Belgrade, is dubbed "Strengthening the OSCE's Effectiveness and Efficiency - A new start after the Astana Summit". Serbian officials pointed out the country’s commitment to OSCE principles, values and standards at the beginning of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session yesterday. Serbia’s Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said that Serbia was dedicated to OSCE principles, values and standards and that it considered OSCE its strategic partner in facing new threats and challenges. OSCE Secretary General and former UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier stated that he supported continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and welcomed the agreements that the negotiating teams reached last week in Brussels. He pointed out that the agreements “are sending a clear signal” of improvement in the negotiations. (Beta)
