According to reports, Behgjet Pacolli has spent USD 70mn lobbying for recognitions of the Kosovo Albanian UDI. The ethnic Albanian businessman, who is currently Hashim Thaci's deputy in the government in Pristina, reportedly made the statement while visiting Ivory Coast. K. Before briefly holding the position of Kosovo president, and then becoming deputy PM, Pacolli had stated that he was "personally responsible" for the recognition of Kosovo by "at least 20 countries". Kosovo has so far been recognized by 76 countries. The province's ethnic Albanians unilaterally declared independence in February 2008, but Serbia rejected it as an illegal act of secession.
