Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz says he would express his satisfaction over the extradition of Ratko Mladic as he addresses UN Security Council in June. He will be in New York to present his latest report on Serbia's cooperation, which is negative, but clarified that his satisfaction with the latest developments would be expressed in an oral report. Hague prosecutor announces positive statement Brammertz postponed his trip to New York so that he could be in The Hague when Mladic arrives, said reports. According to Tanjug, he told Serbia's state broadcaster RTS that his latest regular six-month report submitted to the UNSC was the most "severe" so far since it was filed three weeks prior to Mladic's arrest. "Although I will point to numerous oversights, I will also express satisfaction over the arrest of Mladic in my oral presentation," Brammertz said, adding that a lot of politicians in Serbia worked hard to bring Mladic to the Tribunal. The prosecutor said that Mladic would be given "best possible medical care in Scheveningen's detention unit so that he could be able to follow the trial". Asked what his first thoughts were on hearing about Mladic's arrest on Thursday, Brammertz said that he first thought about the victims and their families who have been expecting to see Mladic behind bars for years. I also thought about the citizens of Serbia, Brammertz said. I am aware that this is a sensitive topic and that over 50 percent of the citizens are against the extradition of Mladic, and I can understand the emotional side of it, but I think that the Serbian citizens will realize that there is nothing heroic about killing civilians and shooting children and men, concluded Brammertz.
