The opposition Serb Radical Party (SRS) announced that they do not consider themselves responsible for the violence that broke out after their rally on Sunday. The gathering was called in support of Ratko Mladic, and ended with a clash between a group of rioters and police. Radicals refuse responsibility for rioting Top SRS official and MP Dragan Todorovic told reporters that the group was "unidentified", and that they planned to cause unrest. Todorovic called on the authorities to reveal who they took in custody - "who they belong to, who the hooded people we've seen in the footage are". He also said that those who participated in the rally "heard that the rioters' activities were coordinated by their leaders". The party, Todorovic continued, took all measures to make sure the rally went in line with the law, but "young men wearing hoods and scarves on their faces baited and attacked police". He said police then, instead of letting them pass through, pushed them back among those gathered for the protest. In this way, the SRS officials stated, the citizens who came to express their support for Mladic were put in danger. The party organized the rally "perfectly in a short time", said Todorovic, adding that it would have gone without any incidents "had the state organs acted professionally, instead of in accordance with political interests". Despite the calls from SRS officials last night for the crowd to disperse peacefully, several hundred persons took to throwing rocks and bottles at police, which led to clashes. The MUP said on Monday morning that ten civilians and 26 police officers were injured, while 111persons - 37 of whom minors - were detained. Riots in Belgrade (Tanjug)
