Serbia "needs precautionary arrangement with IMF"

Serbian Labor Minister Rasim Ljajic and Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission to Serbia Albert Jaeger met on Monday in Belgrade. They agreed that there was a need for a new precautionary arrangement between Serbia and the IMF for the purpose of continuation of the reforms in the country, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy released in a statement. Serbia "needs precautionary arrangement with IMF" Ljajic acquainted the IMF representatives with the implementation of the new Law on Social Protection, which has increased the amount of social contributions and enlarged the scope of users. Ljajic also commented the details of the tripartite social-economic agreement for 2011 which was recently signed by Prime Minister Mirko CvetkoviC, and the representatives of unions and the Association of Employers. Commenting the condition of the social dialogue in Serbia, Ljajic underlined that he expects that the Social-Economic Council will in future assume an important role in the continuation of the reforms in public sector and labor market, and changes in the legislature related to attraction of foreign investments.
